Creating an old paper effective using normal computer is a fun arts and crafts project. There are a number of different techniques for achieving this effect and each will be described in this article. Choose the one that sounds best for the look you are trying to achieve, or use a combination of two or more. If trying to create an old paper scroll effect, you will need to use a longer piece of paper.

The Coffee Method

To create old style paper using this method, you will need coffee, a coffee maker, coffee filter, two baking pans, a spoon, and an oven. Brew a double-strong batch of coffee and pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees. You will need about one to tow cups of coffee. Pour the coffee into one of the baking pans until it is about a third of an inch deep. Next, drop your piece of paper into the coffee, allowing it to float on the surface. Let the coffee soak through the back of the paper to create an aged effect for thirty seconds. Next, use a spoon to cover the top of the paper with coffee. Let the paper absorb the coffee for about a minute. Using your spoon, rip small holes in the paper and places the pulp on top of the paper’s surface. Being careful to not damage the paper, take it out and place it on you other tray. Place the soaked paper in the oven at 200 degrees for a few minutes until the paper is completely dry.

Each technique will produce a distinct old fashion paper look. Choose the method that works best for the old paper look you are trying to achieve. If one method does not achieve the look you want, it is easy to combine either the tea bag or coffee method with the flame method.

The Flame Method

For this technique, you will need a sink and a candle. Since we are working with both fire and paper, we will want to work in your sink to help eliminate the risk of starting a fire in your home. Place your candle in the sink and light it. Hold the paper about an inch above the flame and move it around the edges to create a nice old fashioned paper effect.

The Tea Bag Method

For this method, you will need a common dark tea bag, a cup of hot water, a hair dryer, and a clean flat surface. First, soak your tea bag in the hot water for about a minute. After placing you piece of paper on a flat surface, take your teabag out of the water and brush it onto the paper. The tea will die the paper a yellowish color, giving it the appearance of old looking paper. Finally, dry you paper using a hair drier.
