Finding the Best Low Cost Liposuction
By ChrisThomas
Low cost liposuction is not as hard to find in the United States as you might expect, but always make sure you’re getting the highest quality. Satisfaction is based on receiving a healthy, safe treatment — not just the bottom dollar.
Where to Find It
Avoid Beverly Hills and New York: The Northeast and Western portions of the United States tend to charge far more for liposuction than other areas. However, researching inexpensive liposuction in Tennessee or Kansas may yield surprisingly affordable results.
Some patients swear by finding affordable liposuction outside the U.S. While quality liposuction can be found in other countries, more research is required when choosing to leave the U.S.
Questions to Ask Your Doctor
Is Your Doctor ASPS Certified? Before agreeing to go under the knife,
verify that your chosen plastic surgeon is ASPS board certified. The
ASPS, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, requires doctors to have at
least six years of surgical training, with at least three years
dedicated to plastic surgery.
How Much Aspirate Will They Remove Per Day? Although the specific
amount can vary, most doctors agree that no more than 5 liters of
aspirate, also known as the combination of fat and fluid, should be
removed in a single day’s session. If your doctor agrees to remove more
than 5 liters, do not submit to his treatment.
How Many Body Parts Will Be Treated in One Day? Again, a surgeon
should not be willing to treat more than 3 or 4 areas of the body for
liposuction in one day. Also, liposuction should not be performed on a
day when different surgical procedures, such as facelifts, are
performed.
Who Are Your References? Any proficient plastic surgeon will have a
reputation, and will be happy to share references with you on your
request. Talk to his patients and find out how they rate their
experiences. Virtually nothing is more intimate than surgery; you
deserve a caring, qualified physician.
Cost Breakdown
Doctor’s Level of Experience: The more experienced, the more expensive.
Fresh ASPS certified grads will be more affordable than a doctor with
25 years of experience.
Patient Size/ Ratio of Body Fat: The more there is to remove, the
higher the cost. If the patient has a very high BMI index, the costs
will increase.
Pre-Operative Laboratory Costs: X-rays, consulting room visits, and
other pre-operative methods of interacting with a patient. Pre-operative
procedures that can be performed in-house will be cheaper than those
that must be outsourced.
Operating Room Fee: Varies on the hospital being used.
Special Post-Operative Garments: Some special garments are needed to
protect the body in its fragile condition, depending on where the
surgery takes place.
Post-Op Treatments: Additional therapies or medications may be necessary.
