Women's Ruffle Blouse | Styles, Price Range, Materials
By ChrisThomas
Ruffled blouses span the gamut from a light decorative cream puff to a full blown, torso-length unfurling element. Although many ruffled blouses are made from materials that require a great deal of specialized care, blouses can be found to fit every budget and taste. When purchasing a ruffled blouse, understanding what clothes it will look best with is key, along with color, price, material, and durability.
Considerations When Buying a Ruffled Blouse
Materials: Ruffle blouses are made from silk, light polyesters, certain cotton blends. Occasionally, the ruffle is a small element at the very top of the garment, or around the neck, allowing the shirt to feature buttons or snaps. At other times, the ruffle dominates the blouse, requiring it to be worn by putting it over the head. In this case, belts or sewn-in elastics allow for the garment to be tightened according to the specific figure of the wearer.
Price Range: A decent ruffled blouse can generally be purchased for under $100, although the top of the line versions can be six or seven times this amount.
Color: Because ruffled blouses are often made from relatively thin material, such as silk, color plays a significant role in selecting the right blouse. Finding the right color to enhance your skin tone can sometimes take more time, but it’s always worth it. Solid colors such as black and white generally always look good, no matter what your skin tone. However, be careful to select blouses that highlight your natural beauty. A vivid green blouse needs to be in the right shade, or you will have committed to buying something you can never feel truly comfortable in.
Wardrobe Concerns: From maternity blouses to professional outfits, a ruffled blouse gains a great deal of its appeal from being worn with clothes that accent its particular lines. When purchasing a ruffled blouse, make sure that you have a matching pair of pants or a skirt to go with the blouse. Otherwise, the ruffle will look out of place, no matter how well tailored the garment is.
Durability: Ruffled blouses must be treated with care. They are, by their very nature, delicate objects. From an Oscar de La Renta silk blouse to an off-the-shelf version, each ruffled blouse will benefit from being hung after each time it is worn. The occasional dry ironing session between uses will keep the blouse from accumulating wrinkles. Deodorants, perfumes, or other odor causing liquids should be kept to a minimum when wearing a ruffled blouse. They will ultimately stain or discolor the light fabric of the blouse, and make it unwearable.
